In the beautiful, rolling, malaria-free Karoo countryside north west of the quaint and historic little town of Cradock, only 100 km east of Graaff-Reinet and with a healthy, malaria free climate lies Clifton Farm, the home of Pred-A-Tours.

In addition to the peace and quiet of the vast Karoo scenery, there are opportunities for hiking and birding, the wonderful game viewing thanks to the vast numbers and great diversity of species as well as the rare species found only here but Pred-A-Tours is a guest farm cum wildlife experience with something a little different.

Pred-A-Tours is also home to a program designed to protect and bring to public awareness the lesser known cats of the Karoo: the Caracal (South African Lynx), the African Wild Cat (the ancestor of the modern domestic cat), the Small Spotted Cat and the unusual looking Serval. To read more about our cats please visit the “wildcats” page. Here you can see and “visit” these seldom seen animals.

Richard Holmes is a fourth generation game farmer and will provide highly informative explanations about animal behaviour, ecology, wildlife and environmental management for an extremely educational experience. Marion Holmes has many years’ experience in the travel and catering industry. She and her staff will personally prepare your meals.

Richard and Marion have also established a non-profit trust, the Cat Conservation Trust, to manage the affairs of the cats and to facilitate fund-raising. The patrons of this trust are Dr M Pfleiderer, Dr K Robertson and Ms Beryl Wilson. Donations are exempt from donations tax. To make a donation or “adopt-a-cat” please contact us. Those who have generously sponsored us are listed on our sponsors page and we encourage you, in turn, to support them.
